VAN LEEUWEN ICE CREAM | WESTWOOD
LOS ANGELES, CA
Van Leeuwen reached out to our team to lead design on a new flagship store in Westwood LA - situated within a 1930’s, historically significant mixed-use building, steeped in LA history, which lent inspiration to the studio as we developed the design intent. Utilizing the design strengths of the structure, the design riffs off of the historic arched openings, enhancing them with the interior paint scheme, and echoing those arches through the design behind the counter. Playing with the color palette established by Van Leeuwen’s branding team, we selected a 3-tone, 'orange creamsicle' paint scheme which gives scale to the small and narrow space. This 3-part paint scheme also harkens back to the past as it was a likely scheme of the building’s exterior when it was built. A freshly redesigned exterior gathering space features pistachio colored metalwork, and a festive umbrella, bringing vibrancy and intrigue to this unique corner space.
