CHA CHA MATCHA | FLATIRON

BROADWAY, NEW YORK, NY

This long, narrow, two-story former bodega inspired a counter design that allows the stairs to pass behind it — creating a dumbbell-shaped floor plan. A lounge at the rear of the space features a green upholstered banquette and stacked plywood stools with pink Corian tops. An extension of the front counter was designed to create a residential kitchen feel so customers stay connected to the matcha production. Due to Landmarks filing timeline and costs, the project was unable to implement our original design — featuring a re-envisioned façade — which can be seen in our rendered design intent imagery.
